Country music star and icon, Dolly Parton, has long been known for her sassy comments, faith, and incredible music. Recently, in an interview about her new Christmas album, Parton spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Parton told Billboard Magazine, “Of course Black Lives Matter. Do we think our sassy little white asses are the only ones that matter?”

Well no, Dolly, most Americans don’t think that our white asses are the only ones that matter, but the Black Lives Matter movement has created the stigma that we do. And apparently, she’s bought the lie.

When George Floyd was murdered, it wasn’t enough that the police officers who committed the crime and watched it happen, to be prosecuted- and they have, by the way, they’re facing life in jail. All of a sudden, angry, racist people in America decided that all white people must take part in the blame for Floyd’s death. White Americans were suddenly targeted and if you didn’t jump on the racism bandwagon and apologize for your “privilege” or skin color, you were labeled a racist, awful person, and discriminated against.

Even if you don’t have privilege from being born with it, but from working hard for what you have or like African Americans can’t help the color of your skin.

Some of us are proud of where we are in life and aren’t ashamed of our skin color. *Gasp.*

Dolly Parton’s comment was not only uncalled for but a hypocritical insult. She recently came out with a song called “There Was Jesus” with Zach Williams. It’s a beautiful song and wonderfully written. But last time I checked, Dolly, Jesus didn’t discriminate based on skin color, but your inappropriate quote about white people assuming we’re the only ones that matter, yeah, that is discriminatory.

It’s also rude and spreads anger. Two things that the Jesus I love and follow isn’t about.

Parton told Billboard that two years ago she renamed her Dixie Stampede by taking out the name Dixie since it’s apparently offensive now.

“When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘well I don’t want to offend anybody,” Parton said.

What she doesn’t seem to grasp is that just because someone disagrees with you and uses hurt feelings or offense to guilt you, doesn’t mean you have to listen or change your mind. I was raised to respect and be kind to others, but to stand up for what I believe in and be firm in my values. Just because something I believe “offends” somebody, doesn’t mean that I have to drop everything I’m doing and change my stance.

People take offense to literally anything in this country anymore. If you say that your favorite color is blue, you’re discriminating against the other colors in the rainbow. If you prefer pizza to Chinese food, apparently you don’t like Chinese people.

The world has become so easily offended and Dolly has fallen for their trap. All you have to do is throw up the race or offense card and so many people will immediately adapt their lives to “make it right.” But maybe they are the ones that had it right in the first place.

Dolly spoke out about BLM and changed the name of the stampeded to not offend anyone, but is she going to go back and change her country music that people may find offensive?

She thought that she was helping bring unity, call out white people, and encourage us to face some reality that apparently we think we’re the only race or color that matters.

But all that she really did is sell her soul to the world.

As the Bible says in Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
