Stop being silent. Get loud.
Yesterday I had the incredible honor of attending an event at Liberty University’s Falkirk Center entitled “Get Louder.” The speakers encouraged attendees and viewers to “get louder” in their faith and convictions.
The event was filled with big-name conservatives who went after the Black Lives Matter movement, churches caving to culture, and standing up for faith. Charlie Kirk, David Harris Jr. (recognize that name?), Kimberly Klacik, Mike Huckabee, and Erika Frantzve were among a few of the many distinguished guests I was blessed to hear from.
I immediately became a Kimberly Klacik fan after seeing her incredibly powerful campaign ad where she strutted down the streets of Baltimore calling out Democrats. I mean, girl killed it.
She said something that really stuck with me. She said that she can’t be a part of the silent majority because she can’t be quiet. It’s not hard to believe after seeing that ad, but what an inspiration she was. It is so easy to be quiet about our beliefs in today’s culture. If you say something that someone else disagrees with, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be attacked- verbally and/or physically.
So naturally, it’s so much easier to just remain silent, be complacent, keep your beliefs to yourself so you don’t face persecution. That isn’t living, though.
To truly live means to express yourself- your values, beliefs, and convictions. We live in the United States of America and no one can tell you to be quiet. No one has the right to bully you into silence. Growing up I was taught to stand up for myself, and that’s exactly what I’m encouraging you to do.
Don’t let what you see on the news discourage you into complacent silence. How will anyone know the truth, the actual truth, if we let the other side scare us into being quiet? When asked what the biggest lie in America is right now, Charlie Kirk nailed it. He said the biggest lie is this idea that we can all have our own truth, that truth is subjective. The fact is, it isn’t.
As a Christian, I know that Jesus is the one and only truth. There is no room for debate on this for me. But since not everyone is a believer, I ask, how unnerving it must be to believe that everyone has their own truth? Wouldn’t you feel so much more secure knowing that there is one solid truth?
The reason people so quickly gravitate to the idea of everyone having their own truth is because this means people can do whatever they want, they don’t have to be accountable to anyone or anything. This culture says if you don’t agree with someone they reserve the right to attack you. So what happens when some sick person says that their truth is murder? What gives anyone the right to disagree, even if it’s against the law? That’s their truth, so we must adhere to it.
You get the point.
Conservatives, believers, I urge you, stop being silent out of fear. Don’t believe the lie that you must just be complacent and agree with everyone in order to avoid hurting people’s feelings. Speak the truth in love, yes, but don’t back down from speaking the one and only truth.
Not your truth, not my truth, God’s truth.
