Democratic California Rep. Jimmy Gomez announced he will introduce a resolution to expel Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress Wednesday evening.
“I don’t need to explain why Marjorie Taylor Greene is a clear and present danger to Congress and our democracy,” Gomez tweeted. “She did it herself.”
Gomez claims Greene has engaged in behavior that called for “extremism and sedition.”
“As if it weren’t enough to amplify conspiracy theories that the September 11 attacks were an inside job and the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was staged, a string of recent media reports has now confirmed that Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had previously supported social media posts calling for political violence against the Speaker of the House, members of Congress, and former President Barack Obama,” Gomez said. “Such advocacy for extremism and sedition not only demands her immediate expulsion from Congress.”
Gomez’s move comes after CNN unearthed a video of Greene yelling at Parkland school shooting survivor David Hogg. Hogg has become a vocal advocate of gun control since the shooting.
“[Hogg], with his George Soros funding, and his major liberal funding, has got everything, Greene said. “He has nothing to say because he’s paid to do this … He’s a coward. He’s got nothing to say because he can’t defend his stance.”
Greene defended her actions, telling the Daily Caller she will always fight to “protect our gun rights.”
“I was going from office to office in the Senate to oppose the radical gun control agenda that David Hogg was pushing,” Greene told the Daily Caller. “In 11th grade, one of my fellow students took our school hostage with a gun he brought to our ‘gun-free’ school.”
“I understand that fear firsthand, and I will always work to protect our gun rights so that Americans can defend themselves and others against bad people intent to harm or kill them,” she added in the statement.
CNN also claimed she liked posts on Facebook calling for FBI agents to be killed. Greene refuted this reporting, saying the article was a “hit piece.”
“Over the years, I’ve had teams of people manage my pages,” Greene said in a statement. “Many posts have been liked. Many posts have been shared. Some did not represent my views.”
“Here’s the truth, the Democrats and their spokesmen in the Fake News Media will stop at nothing to defeat conservative Republicans,” Greene continued.
Greene has loudly shown her colleagues she will not play by their rules since joining Congress. She introduced articles of impeachment for President Joe Biden on Jan. 21. She has refused to wear a mask previously in Congress and she has been one of the loudest supporters of former President Donald Trump.
