A recent Rasmussen survey has concluded that the overwhelming majority of Republicans want their party modeled after President Donald Trump. Among the 1,000 Likely Republican Voters, 72% of those surveyed stated they “think their party should be more like Trump than like the average GOP member of Congress.” In contrast, a total of 24% of respondents “see the average Republican in Congress as a better model” for the party’s future. The wording of the survey questions was as follows:

1* As the Republican Party reorganizes itself next year, should it be more like President Trump or more like the average GOP member of Congress?

2* Should Republicans look for a fresh face to run for president in 2024, or should they promote a candidate who has already run in the past?

NOTE: Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence

These results are consistent with mounting calls on social media for Trump supporters to create their own political party since they feel the GOP is overrun with RINOs (Republicans in Name Only). Some are considering creating a Patriot Party or a MAGA Party that supports the America First policies promoted by Donald Trump, with several aspiring congressional candidates already embracing the movement.

When I run again for Congress, it won’t be for the GOP that cheated me and my state. It will be as an independent constitutionalist under the Patriot Party of Nevada…and I’m doing it all without PAC money.

Survey results obtained December 21-December 22 have major implications for GOP members of Congress that are up for re-election during the 2022 mid-term elections. All eyes will be fixed on Washington D.C. on January 6th during the joint session of Congress, where electoral votes will be officially counted. Many supporters of President Trump are fully expecting Members of Congress to object to electoral votes from contested states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where Trump loyalists have filed legal challenges. These objections are centered around questionable election results after the 2020 Presidential Election on November 3rd.

Electoral challenges will trigger a debate process in both the House and the Senate if they are endorsed by at least one member of the House and at least one Senator. There is a growing cry among Trump supporters to hold Members of Congress accountable if they break from President Trump and fail to challenge electoral votes, with some calling for “Never-Trumpers” to be “primaried” during the Midterm elections in 2022. One such Trump supporter, Fox Nation host, Tomi Lahren, tweeted that those turning their backs on the President will be “primaried, defeated, and replaced.”

To all the Never Trumpers who used @realDonaldTrump to raise money, get elected and stay somewhat relevant but now turn their backs on him (and his supporters) just know, we won’t forget! You’ll be primaried, defeated and replaced!

Do you stand by the efforts to PRIMARY ANY 2022 GOP SENATOR or HOUSE MEMBER that does not support President Trump on January 6th?

— Chuck Callesto (@ChuckCallesto) December 29, 2020

The NDAA veto override means every RINO must be primaried by America First candidates.

— John Cardillo (@johncardillo) December 29, 2020

If you’re a member of Congress,

And you don’t object the election certification on January 6th,

Expect to be primaried.

— Ryan Fournier (@RyanAFournier) December 27, 2020

In light of the Rasmussen poll results, perhaps members of Congress should think carefully about their position on Electoral Challenges prior to January 6.
