According to a tweet by California State Senator Melissa Melendez, the current campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom has now reached over 911,000 signatures, which is now at 60% of their goal to recall the radical governor.
According to Fox News, since 1911 Californians have attempted to recall their governor 55 times but the only one that was successful was in 2003 when then-Governor Gray Davis lost his special election to Arnold Schwarzenegger. And some of the state politicians have already donated millions of dollars in an effort to remove Gavin Newsom from power.
The petition called Rescue California needs a minimum of 1,495,709 validated signatures from California residents to recall the governor, and right now the group has reached over 60% of their goal. The petition started on June 10, and a judge extended the deadline to March 17, 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Gavin Newsom has received some harsh criticism when he recently when he was caught not following his own COVID-19 protocols and when to dinner with a bunch of California lobbyists in Napa Valley.
