After the 2020 VP debate between Vice President Mike Pence and California Senator Kamala Harris, one thing Harris said on that stage lingered with many Christians, Catholics, and Pro-lifers.
Kamala stated that she and Joe Biden were “people of faith” and then later in the evening, proceeded to claim her advocacy for abortion, including ones during the third trimester.
The problem with her statements is that the Biden-Harris ticket could be one of the most pro-choice tickets we’ve had.
Both Biden and Harris want a taxpayer-funded abortion and justify their stance and sugarcoat it by preaching words like “faith” to cater to the religious crowd.
The Biden-Harris ticket would be extremely detrimental for the Pro-life community, no matter how many times they try and falsely preach their religions.
It is known that Harris comes off as a loud and proud advocate for abortions. In 2015, Kamala Harris tried forcing pro-life pregnancy centers to promote abortion by championing a bill to require those pregnancy centers to advertise free abortions at their clinics.
In 2018, Harris was a vocal opponent towards the Pain-capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This bill would make abortion unlawful after 20 weeks, equalling five months in a pregnancy, where the baby would feel pain.
Throughout the years, she has done and supported many pro-choice bills and movements. Here is more of Kamala Harris’ Pro-abortion record. Harris also made a point during the debate that Joe Biden is a “practicing Catholic.”
The thing is, you cannot be a practicing catholic while supporting the act of killing pre-born babies. Back in June, Joe Biden stated that he “would codify Roe v. Wade.” Earlier this week, Biden also stated that he would pass legislation to make Roe the “law of the land.”
If you are also not familiar with the Hyde Amendment, Biden changed his mind on his stance on the amendment that bans federal funding of abortions, with exceptions of rape, incest, and the mother’s safety of life. He now opposes this amendment.
Someone that shows blatant support for abortions is not as deep into their catholic faith as they claim to be. It is stated in the section of the Catechism discussing the procedure that abortion and infanticide are “abominable crimes.” As also stated in the Bible as one of the ten commandments, “Thou shall not kill.”
You don’t get to pick and choose which pieces of the religion you want to align with. What we see from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is a typical example of playing both sides of the aisle.
They want to play up the “I am someone with morals, I am a person of faith” to appeal to the liberal Christians and Catholics but also want to cater to the nonreligious folks by playing up the “my religion and faith don’t rule me and isn’t a part of my career.”
It is quite a slippery slope for them to go down as we continue this battle with being a voice for the voiceless and advocating for the pre-born.
So as Kamala had said to Mike Pence that it is “insulting to suggest she would knock anyone for their religion,” I find it quite insulting to preach that you’re a person of faith and then turn around and advocate for the dismemberment of babies.
