Michigan State Police released bodycam footage on Sunday of Democratic state Representative Jewell Jones resisting arrest and weapons possession after a crash on Interstate 96.
The video shows police tackling Jones on the ground after resisting arrest and threatening to call the governor on the police. Jones also yelled at the police as he was being handcuffed that he has the ability to defund their budgets/
“I don’t give a f— bro, when I call Gretchen [Whitemer] I’ll (sic) need y’all (sic) ID’s badge numbers everything,” said Rep. Jewell Jones.
“It’s not going to be good for you, I’m telling you. I run y’alls budget, bro,” said Jones to a trooper.
When asked to give his license to police, Jones responded with “I can’t do that.”
Police arrested Jones on April 6th after his vehicle rolled into a ditch. His blood alcohol was two times over the legal limit and he had a loaded Glock in his vehicle.
“Rep. Jones will continue to faithfully serve” his constituents, said Jones’ attorney Ali Hammoud, adding that Jones is innocent until proven guilty.
