Update 5:44 pm EST – “Law enforcement sources” tell CBS News that their leading theory is that the suspect may have been killed during the explosion. DNA tests on the remains that were found at the scene are being conducted to see if they are the suspects. Federal law enforcement has searched the home of the alleged person of interest.
Police have allegedly identified a person of interest in Nashville’s Christmas Day bombing, according to CBS’s Jeff Pegues. The alleged suspect has been identified as Anthony Quinn Warner, according to Pegues, a Nashville area resident who has a similar make and model RV that was on the scene of the explosion.
Authorities are calling the bombing “an intentional act” and have allegedly found human remains in the area, according to Nashville Metro police chief John Drake, but it is unknown if the remains are related to the explosion. So far, three people have been injured due to the explosion.
Police responded to a call of shots fired on Friday near the AT&T building. When police arrived to the building, they found an RV with covered windows. The RV began broadcasting a warning of an imminent bomb and an explosion devastated the area around 6:30 am local time. After the bombing, AT&T experienced a major outage in the area due to the damage to the building.
Shell casings have been found at the scene, but the ammunition is thought to have been set off by the explosion.
The area of the explosion is currently under a curfew.
Former NYPD Detective Bill Ryan told Fox News that he believes that the recording was designed to bring in as many cops into the area as possible to harm them.
“I kind of think it was probably an idea to get first responders to come in,” Ryan told Fox News.
Ryan served as part of an arson and explosions task force for the NYPD and believes a group may be behind the attack.
“You have to really wonder what the motivation of the bombers are – I don’t think this was one person, it was probably an organized group of people.”
This is a developing story. It will be updated as new information comes out.
