Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s founder and CEO appeared today before the Senate Commerce Committee to discuss Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a key legal provision that shields online businesses from content their users create.
Ted Cruz went after Dorsey, pointing out the sites tactics to censor the New York Post’s story on Hunter Biden.
“Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report, and what the American people are allowed to hear?” thundered the Texas Republican at the social-media mogul. “Why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic super PAC, silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs?”
Dorsey’s only response was that Twitter made a mistake in blocking the post link. This block still exists to this day. The Post can only return to Twitter if they remove the link from their page.
