The View co-host Joy Behar stated that the militant communist-anarchist organization Antifa is “not a real thing” and a “fictitious idea” on Monday.
The hosts were reacting to Republican Senator Ron Johnson, who stated he would have been concerned if the Capitol Hill rioters were Antifa and Black Lives Matter members.
“Now, had the tables been turned, and Joe — this is going to get me in trouble — had the tables been turned and President Trump won the election and tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and antifa, I might have been a little concerned,” said Johnson.
“I just want to clarify that Christopher Wray who was the FBI director says that Antifa is an ideology, not an organization. There is no sign that they were involved in the Capitol siege, let’s be clear,” said Behar.
Conservative host Meghan McCain later stated that Behar’s comments were “factually inaccurate and a lie.”
The idea that Antifa does not exist is preposterous. Antifa has constantly been rioting in many cities over the past year. I have covered this rioting for a few months, including this weekend at Portland and Seattle, which are prominent hubs for Antifa riots. These protests are heavily organized. Chants are memorized, rioters wear similar gear, and specific tactics are memorized.
During my time in Seattle, I was able to capture a video of Antifa rioters vandalizing a Starbucks. There are hundreds of instances of Antifa vandalizing businesses.
