The United States, on Friday, has confiscated the cargo of four tankers that were carrying Iranian fuel shipments to Venezuela, disrupting a multi-million deal allegedly meant to enrich Iran’s Revolutionary Gaurd Corps, a group designated by the US as terrorist group, in the largest-ever seizure of gas shipments from Iran, officials say.
This happened in violation of U.S.-imposed sanctions on the two countries, the Justice Department said in a news release.
The leader of Iran has been begging for relief from President Donald J. Trump’s sanctions, using the worldwide Pandemic as an excuse for relief. Trump has not relented.
Venezuela also suffers a devastating blow in the loss of much-needed supplies of petroleum.
“This move cuts off a supply chain, the two countries have been taunting the US over Sanctions and it is huge pressure on both countries, their socialist country is crashing,” said Republican Representative Mark Green (TN)
According to the press release:
” On July 2, 2020, the United States filed a complaint seeking to forfeit all petroleum-product cargo aboard four foreign-flagged oil tankers, including the M/T Bella with the international maritime organization.
The government announced today that it has successfully executed the seizure order and confiscated the cargo from all four vessels, totaling approximately 1.116 million barrels of petroleum. With the assistance of foreign partners, this seized property is now in U.S. custody.
After enforcement of the U.S. forfeiture order, Iran’s navy forcibly boarded an unrelated ship in an apparent attempt to recover the seized petroleum but was unsuccessful. “

This activity with the Depart of Justice at the same time the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo said in a press conference in Austria, “The regime ruling #Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. They must not be allowed to purchase or sell weapons. This is quite a simple issue. We will continue all diplomatic channels to extend the UN arms embargo on this regime.”
